Women in Business

On February 3rd, our Baker County Chamber of Commerce will host its first ever Women in Business luncheon. This event was requested by several Chamber members and was fulfilled by the Local Business Council which is part of the Chamber of Commerce. We had a lot of fun shooting the last minute (and impromptu) promo for it. Thank you Shelley Plemmons, Shannon Curry, and the Beauty Parlor!

While our Chamber is well represented by women-owned businesses and many of those serve as board members and even the President-elect, there was a lack of educational programs to encourage women to seek bigger roles within the organizations they currently are employed by. I think this is a great opportunity to help those women seek equal compensation or to take on more demanding and higher paying positions within their companies. And when people are able to reach their fullest potentials everyone wins.

If you are a woman looking for a support network with a desire to help you grow, I would encourage you to join the Baker County Chamber of Commerce and get involved with the Local Business Council and the Women in Business program.

You can learn more about programs through the Chamber here.

If you are looking to become a business owner yourself, I would encourage you to check out some FREE resources that are offered and if you need help finding insurance coverage we would be happy to assist you.
